Why did you launch Civvy St?

Our mission is to support the transition from military service to civilian life. We’re building the first super app bringing together a network of support services to enable a smooth transition from active service to civvy street. Leaving the armed forces is a major transitionary period that can be complicated and stressful for a variety of reasons.

What problems does your Super App solve?

The relevant support services are fragmented and often hard to find. There is currently no platform that consolidates all key information in a single place, while guidance and practical advice is spread across multiple organisations. Civilian life is less structured, so leaving can be a culture shock as you can feel like an imposter in unfamiliar territory. There is a sense of starting again from scratch with no civilian or business network.

Services offered include careers and mentorship, well-being and financial inclusion, and keeping connected with your community through networking events.

Who is your target audience?

Civvy St has been created by a team of military veterans, technology and finance experts to assist before, during and after active service in the Army, Navy and RAF. The initial focus is on supporting the 145,000 actively serving and 2.4 million veterans across the UK armed forces. Future plans include overseas expansion to the US and Commonwealth countries with a combined total of over 20 million serving and veteran military personnel.

Where can I learn more about Civvy St?

In the run up to the full launch of the platform in Q1 2024, we will be communicating regularly with our network of customers and partners, so please complete the website form if you want to be kept up to date with progress. We will also be organising a number of focus groups and workshops, so welcome your participation in these sessions to ensure we create a product that meets your needs.

In Q4 2023, we will also launch the Civvy St. crowdfunding with a focus on raising the funding required to develop and launch the technology platform, so all serving personnel and veterans are invited to join as founding investors and we expect HMRC approval for SEIS and EIS tax relief for UK investors.

When will the app & services be available?

It’s mission critical that we engage with the wider armed forces community to ensure we deliver the key services that you need in order of priority. This will be achieved through customer surveys, focus groups and meet ups, so we listen to your valuable feedback. This planning, preparation and development phase will take approximately 6 months, so we anticipate a full launch of the Civvy St. platform by Q3 2024 including apps available to download free in the App Store and Google Play.

How can I get actively involved?

Our mission is to build the largest, actively engaged community of serving and veteran military personnel ever on a single platform with key support services. We welcome your participation in multiple ways from signing up as a customer, joining our focus groups, spreading the word among your network, investing in the Civvy St. crowdfunding or becoming an ambassador to help grow our community. To discuss further please get in touch with Tony, Hamish or Derek on support@civvyst.com
